As I reflect on my life as a business woman, I want to share something on my heart. I have been in business for MANY moons now. I asked for my first job around the age of 7 or 8 at my great aunt and uncle's country corner store. That's a story for another day. I have worked with HUNDREDS of women and I have seen a trend for many of us!
We simply don’t value ourselves!
I know this because we don’t FREELY, without guilt, invest in ourselves, dreams, and our businesses. We give 100% of ourselves, our time, and our money to pretty much everyone but us! We play small with our hopes and dreams because we pour out all we have for others. What we want goes on the back burner.
I know this because it was me for many years.
I am not saying to not be present or to stop serving your family but to understand that it is ok to MAKE ROOM to do something that fills your soul and lights your fire!
A number of years ago a woman I trusted said “Lori, if you want to make a difference in your life and business you will be in the room”. She was referring to an upcoming business conference in another state.
My mind immediately went to the $$ and how I would possibly get away for 4 days by myself. I had to fly there, get a hotel room, eat a bunch of meals out AND pay hundreds of dollars for the conference.
BUT because I trusted her and she had never been that bold in telling me something like that before, I sucked it up and went.
My life was changed! That simple act of obedience, that step of faith, paid dividends. So much so, a few months later, the same woman hosted a conference in our state and Michael went with me. He had seen such a change in me that he knew to trust me and he went.
The lessons we learned at that conference MANY years ago made a profound impact on our lives, our marriage, our parenting, and our relationship even today.
Here is my question for you.
What is stopping you from seeing your value? What is stopping you from having BIG DREAMS and TAKING ACTION to make them happen? Is there an imbalance in your life where you give, give, give and never make yourself or your dream a priority?
It's not selfish to want something for YOU! There are so many life lessons in your children seeing you walk it out and work for your dreams. You are giving them, especially your daughters, permission to see their dreams as valuable too.
