BALANCE is so OVERATED

By Lori Gasca - Speaker, Author & Mentor

BALANCE! WHEW.  Even typing that word gives me a hot flash. Stress throws me into my very own personal summer in the dead of winter, if you know you know!  So, let me ask you. What do you feel when you hear the word “BALANCE?"

Balance IS SO overrated.  Instead of seeking balance, I want to live in the pursuit of JOY. We are told to seek balance so we can be stress free and happy.  But, I have found the opposite to be true. Life is life! It will never be perfectly balanced and the more I STRIVE to attain this unattainable goal the more stressed I become.  When I have joy in my heart, it’s possible to be content no matter where I am or what life throws at me.  True joy is not dictated by circumstances or balance.

In the ESV translation of the Bible, the words “joy,” “rejoice,” or “joyful” appear a total of 430 times.  That’s a whole lot of reminders and mentions of joy!  John 15:11 reads “I have told you these things so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete.”  The “things” Jesus is referencing are from the earlier part of the chapter where He is speaking of being the vine and we are the branches and life is really meaningless if we are not connected to Him.  True joy can only come from being connected to the true vine.  I want to focus my time on finding JOY by spending time with Him and not worrying so much about BALANCE.
